Definitely a superb blender! First experience was some vegetable puree and then a fruit smoothie with add-ins. The textures were fabulous with very little runtime. I did not get the proportions right for my first smoothie and will need to experiment since I want more of a freeze consistency with as little liquid as possible. Nevertheless, this blender was far superior to the the small smoothie maker I had been using. There were no crunchy bits thanks to the sharp blades that liquify everything. I wish I had purchased a Vitamix years ago. Edit: After a week of experimenting I cracked the code on making a smoothie I like, with only 4 oz of liquid. You must start on a lower speed and gradually work up to high speed, using the taper more as a stirring stick along the way. That stops the air bubble from forming and promotes a nice vortex. End result is a thick smoothie like a milk shake.

I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first Vitamix but wow does this thing do its job perfectly. It doesn’t have any preset functions but it feels bullet proof with the simple 1-10 speed settings and pulse button. I can get ice and frozen fruit blended into perfect consistency without any ice chunks in about 30 to 45 seconds depending on size of smoothie. I also like the 48 oz size container since it seems to be the right amount and creates a perfect fruit and/or veggie vortex. I was able to blend kale and spinach with green apple into a smoothie (always add water) and get consistent results like something I could order from a real smoothie shop. It cuts through the green stuff so well its almost like a juicer. If you use a strainer with the right mesh you could sift out the extra fiber to get the same result as a juicer. This blender has got me in a healthier mindset since I’ve been more inclined to using it for my daily nutrition. Worth every penny for me and I expect it to last 20 years with serviceable parts
